Thank you all so much for supporting our first “fun” fundraiser Golf Balls From Heaven 2012 held July 7th at Branson Driving Range (http://www.thebransondrivingrange.com/ ). Our friends at Chopper Charter (http://www.choppercharter.com/) were able to stuff their helicopter full of 2000 golf balls and drop them over a hole bounded by a nylon rope in the shape of a cross measuring 77 feet in length and 52 feet in width.
Our Celebrity Judge Doug Gabriel (http://www.douggabriel#1hitstributeshow.com/), Judge Chuck Pennel (http://www.chuckpennel.com/), and Judge Bill Hagler diligently fulfilled their charge and helped keep everything running smoothly. While we did not have a Grand Prize winner of the $100,000.00 insurance policy, we were supported by people in 49 of the 50 states (we missed having a Hawaiian donor) and also in Canada.
We did have a Hole in One Winner and surprisingly there was only ONE golf ball in the cup after 2000 were aimed at the cup from 50 feet directly above it. The Hole in One Winner of the $5,000.00 prize was a local ministry to Branson called Still Waters International Ministries. They have been notified and as a young Christian ministry, Images at the Cross (aka Branson Cross) is absolutely blessed to have the opportunity to sow directly into another local ministry supporting the Cross of Jesus.
Some might wonder why give a prize for the Farthest Golf Ball from the Hole. Branson Cross is a Kingdom Legacy Project building the Largest Walkthrough Cross in the World – and even if you think you are the biggest loser in the world, if you are in the Kingdom YOU ARE A WINNER! The Farthest Golf Ball from the Hole was 97 feet away and our $1000.00 winner was Caroline Stanley from Mountain View, Missouri.
Congratulations to all those who participated and supported our fundraising efforts. We had a great day – it went from 104 degrees a half hour before the event and dropped to 82 degrees with a gentle breeze right at drop time! The Lord definitely blessed all of us who were able to attend.
For those at the event, please email your photos and links to youtube.com downloads of the event to my attention at kbrown@imagesatthecross.org so that we can add them to the website for people to enjoy. We should have additional video of the event soon so check back with us!
May God bless and keep everyone involved!
